Payment terms calculator: when is a business invoice late in Ireland?

When does a business invoice become late in Ireland? Enter the invoice date (and the date of receipt if you know it): the calculator shows the default due date and the 60-day limit, with the days left.

If the date of receipt is uncertain, or the invoice arrived before the goods or services, the 30 days run from delivery. Public authorities: 30 days, or 60 if justified and agreed (S.I. 580/2012).

Payment terms between Irish businesses

If you agreed a payment date with your customer, that date applies. If you did not, S.I. 580/2012 makes the invoice payable 30 calendar days after the customer received it.

Agreed terms longer than 60 days are valid only if they were expressly agreed and are not grossly unfair to the supplier. The calculator shows the 60-day date so you can see when this extra condition starts.

For public authorities, the limit is 30 days (60 if justified and agreed).

When the receipt date is not entered, the calculator assumes the invoice was received on its date. Late payment interest starts the day after the due date.
